Following the success of their 2025 debut album and fresh off a highly successful national tour, Powder Chutes are back with their fiercest statement of intent to date. Their brand-new single, ‘Rivers’, is set for global release on June 19 2026.

Recorded at Auckland’s Parachute Studios with award-winning producer Dave Rhodes (Devilskin / Blindspott), ‘Rivers’ offers an explosive first look into the band’s heavily anticipated second studio album. The track is a sonic heavyweight that demands attention, erupting with the band’s signature blend of modern grunge and punk angst, anchored by a sleazy hard rock groove.

“‘Rivers’ emerged as an instant live favourite,” the band says. “The fierce crowd response we saw on tour really matches the power and energy we poured into this recording.”

Thematically ‘Rivers’ pulls no punches. It explores the complexities of looking after mental health within the "maelstrom of modern society", delving into the challenge of balancing meds and preserving a sense of self whilst maintaining positive relationships with those around you.

POWDER CHUTES

Hailing from Wānaka, Powder Chutes have rapidly emerged as one of New Zealand’s most compelling rock acts, forging a reputation for incendiary live performances and a fiercely original sound.

The four-piece—comprised of Henry McConnell (vocals), Clarke West (guitar), Otis Murphy (bass), and Archie Orbell (drums)—has captured international attention by seamlessly blending modern grunge, punk, and hard rock, drawing sophisticated comparisons to heavyweights such as Tool, Highly Suspect, and Soundgarden.
